§ 927.02. Location of zoo.

  • The "zoological park" to be operated as hereinafter provided, shall be located on an approximate ninety-six acre tract of land in what is known as Riverside Park along the east bank of the Scioto River immediately north of the O'Shaughnessy Dam, said tract of land extending northwardly from the north side of said dam, between a line following the meanders of the Scioto River and at an elevation six (6) feet above the crest of the dam and the east boundary of the property east of Route 257, acquired by the city and used in connection with the operation of the municipal zoo. Provided, however, that no buildings for the housing of animals shall be erected, or animals kept on any part of said tract of land nearer the Scioto River than a line following the general contour of the land along the east river bank at an elevation of nine feet above the crest of said dam, said tract of land to be named and designated as "The Columbus Municipal Zoo".
